The Catalog

A family office hires a specialist the day the need shows up. Now so can you.

Your membership arrives staffed: Finn as chief of staff, and a front office of four who run the household every day. The catalog is the bench behind them: twenty-four specialist seats across eight desks, hired one seat at a time, the way a real office grows. An offer letter, two signatures, and a comp line that costs less than a dinner out.

Four agents can run a household. They cannot know everything about it.

Every Merger membership arrives staffed. Finn runs the office as chief of staff. A controller holds the budget and the cash flow, a portfolio manager holds the allocation and watches it drift, and an analyst reads every transaction for the thing that does not belong. Four agents, working from day one. For most households, in most years, that front office is all they will ever need.

But households are not uniform, and they do not stay still. One year a parent needs care. One year a side business starts throwing off 1099s. One year the first house is finally in reach, or a trust needs funding, or someone forwards you a private deal and you have no idea how to read it. A traditional family office answers those moments the same way every time: it hires someone. A specialist, for exactly that problem, for exactly as long as the problem lasts.

That is the entire idea behind the catalog. Four agents on the clock, always on, included. Twenty-four specialists on the bench, hired only when there is a reason. You do not pay for a seat until your own numbers make the case for it, and Finn will not recommend one until they do.

  • Staffed by default

Finn plus three agents, working from the day you join. No add-ons required to run a household properly.

  • Hired on evidence

Finn recommends a seat when your accounts show the need, and names the dollars behind the recommendation.

  • Board approval

Two signatures on every hire. The same rule your charter set for every other decision that matters.

  • Released cleanly

A seat you no longer need stops renewing. No retention call, no dark pattern, no penalty.

How a hire happens · Four steps, about ninety seconds

The most enjoyable checkout in personal finance.

Most products sell you an upgrade. Merger writes an offer letter on your household letterhead and asks the board to sign it. The difference is not decoration. It is the whole point: you are not buying a feature, you are staffing an institution.

  1. Finn drafts the offer.

It names the seat, the duties, the hours, and who it reports to. The comp line shows what the same role costs at a traditional family office, struck through, next to what it costs here.

  2. You both sign.

One of you signs, the offer goes to the other partner's phone, and the seat is countersigned. No hire happens on one signature, ever.

  3. Payment, once a year.

Annual only, renewing alongside your membership. No monthly drip and no partial-year games.

  4. The seat starts tonight.

Its first briefing lands at your next check-in, in its own voice, with the first thing it found in your numbers.

The eight desks · Twenty-four seats

Eight desks. Twenty-four seats. Staffed only when your numbers ask.

Your membership already includes Finn and a front office of four. The catalog is the bench behind them: twenty-four specialist seats across eight desks, hired one seat at a time with an offer letter and two signatures.

Merger Black is the ceiling, not the entry. Every household starts with a membership and the front office it already includes. The catalog is there when a real need shows up in your numbers, and not a day before.

The guardrails · What a seat will never do

Twenty-four specialists, and not one of them can move your money.

Every agent in the catalog reads your connected accounts, forms a recommendation, and verifies its own work. None of them holds funds, moves a dollar, or executes anything on a single approval. Where a decision is regulated, the agent prepares the file and a licensed human on the Marketplace bench finalizes it. Where a seat earns a performance fee, that fee is disclosed on the offer letter before either of you signs, and it is only ever charged on a result: the bill negotiator keeps a share of savings it actually wins, insurance seats earn a placed-policy commission through the licensed bench, and the real estate manager charges per additional property.

Pricing is annual and renews with your membership. A seat you no longer need is released at renewal and stops billing. Salary comparisons shown throughout are illustrative benchmarks for the equivalent role at a traditional single-family office, not quotes.

The office grows with you

Start with four. Hire the rest when life asks you to.

Every membership opens with a working front office. The catalog will be waiting upstairs on the day you need it, and quiet on every day you do not.
